FAQ
What is the Data Death March™?
In a nutshell, the Data Death March™ is the monthly scramble to manually cobble together incomplete and incoherent spreadsheets in an effort to tell a story on marketing performance. It’s the process of laboriously extracting and pulling data from all of your marketing tools into an Excel file for cleanup and reporting (more than likely in PowerPoint). It takes far too many man hours during the month, and by the time you get data in a reporting-ready format, there is no time to actually analyze it.
We’ve fixed that with ChannelMix marketing intelligence platform. We’re automating the entire data collection, cleanup, and prep process, saving marketers 90% of the manual data management time.
What’s the Difference between Google Analytics and Google Premium?
Google Analytics is a service offered by Google that provides detailed and in depth statistical analysis of a website’s traffic, sources, conversions, sales, as well as a host of other metrics. Free as a base service, Google Analytics is the most widely used website statistics service available.
Designed for companies with higher traffic volume, Google Analytics Premium is a substantially more robust version of the Google Analytics platform. Premium as a service includes a dedicated, 24-7 product support staff; stronger processing power, guaranteeing the ability to process up to 1 billion hits per month (as compared to the 10 million a month available for standard accounts), intra-day processing, and on-time data freshness (within 4 hours); advanced analysis tools, including up to 50 custom variable slots (compared to 5 available for the standard version); and a number of user interface changes.
What is Big Data?
A buzzword that has recently grown in popularity and use, Big Data describes a massive volume of both structured and unstructured data that is mined for information, and generally so large that it is difficult to process using traditional relational database analysis methods.
This data comes from a plethora of sources, including social media posts, digital pictures and video, purchase transaction records, cell phone GPS signals, and even climate information. And this just represents a small portion of the information collected, as nearly any quantifiable source can be captured and analyzed.
How long does it take to get started as a new client?
A new client can be up and running in as little as 3 weeks on the ChannelMix platform.

What is Business Intelligence?
Business Intelligence is the process of pulling many different data points into a centralized view, which provides organizations with a 360 degree view of their business’ performance. This all-encompassing view allows them to report on their Key Performance Metrics across all of their business team and thus, make informed, real-time business decisions. Business Intelligence is also where Big Data, the massive amounts of digital data, becomes actionable, rich and real-time results for the organization. This too improves the business decision-making process. It shortens the window for when decisions are made by bringing all the data together into one centralized view and it also decreases the opportunity for bad decisions, with one centralized view of the data. So no matter the impact, good or bad, the data tells the organization, which levers to pulls to trigger the effect on the business they are targeting.
What is Predictive Analytics?
Predictive Analytics is the utilization of statistical and/or machine learning techniques on historical data to model future behaviors, events, or trends.
How is Alight Different from Bime, Domo, or Tableau?
Companies with visualization tools like Bime, Domo, and Tableau often still struggle with the disparate data sources behind the tools they’re using to analyze them. Alight Analytics specializes in solving the data problem, whereas a company like Bime, Domo, or Tableau will specialize more in helping the user to visualize the data. Our ChannelMix data aggregation platform can act as a single data source for all of your marketing data, making tools like this even more powerful than they already are. We consider companies like this partners in our mission to aid companies like yours in attaining more powerful marketing intelligence. In fact, we’re a Tableau Alliance Partner.
How does ChannelMix automate my data?
ChannelMix uses a collection of API consumers to gather data into a data warehouse. A series of tests are then run against this data to monitor and report any quality issues. Data is then extracted and provided to clients in the form they prefer through jobs scheduled in our system. The entire process is monitored in an automated fashion that alerts a developer when an issue occurs.
